About ME

I’m Jenny, a passionate potter, maker, and entrepreneur behind Stony Point Pottery. My journey has been shaped by a lifelong love for creating with my hands, from childhood experiments with sewing and cross-stitching to my current work shaping clay into functional, handcrafted art.

My mother introduced me to sewing and cross-stitching when I was around 10, and I quickly became captivated by the craft. I often enjoyed experimenting with patterns, trusting my instincts rather than following instructions, and learning from my mistakes.

As a young mother in my 20s, I found joy in sewing clothes for my children. Before long, friends and family began requesting my creations as baby gifts. This sparked the idea that I could combine my passion with entrepreneurship and make extra income while staying home with my children. I began selling my work at local boutiques and eventually opened a consignment shop in our hometown.

Six years later, when both of my children were attending school full-time, I found myself still sewing but lacking the same passion I once had. It wasn’t until my 30s, when I began collecting handmade pottery, that I discovered a new creative outlet that truly sparked my interest. The joy I found in using handmade pottery, particularly mugs, inspired me to pursue pottery myself, hoping to bring the same happiness to others through my work.

I am incredibly grateful to my partner, Jonny, for his unwavering support and encouragement to “just get started.” This led me to my local ceramics shop, where I was advised to take a class. However, driven by excitement, I purchased a bag of clay and a beginner's tool set instead. Worh the help of  YouTube tutorials, I began creating bowls and mugs from rolled-out slabs of clay, and my passion quickly grew. I later found a used pottery wheel on Craigslist, drove 45 minutes to pick it up, and was fortunate enough to receive my first throwing lesson from the couple who sold it to me. Since then, I’ve been hooked.

Thank you for supporting my journey and for appreciating the art I pour my heart into. Your love for my work means the world to me.❤️
